Radio X gets its first sister station - 'Radio X Classic Rock'

Global's Radio X radio station grew today as it gets its first sister station by the name of 'Radio X Classic Rock.

The new station, which broadcasts from Global's head office in London's Leicester Square, launched today on Thursday 16 February and is fronted by Radio X presenter and music journalist, Sunta Templeton.

Sunta Templeton is on air on the national station Monday - Friday from 11am - 3pm. The rest of the station's output is automated outside of these times.

Radio X Classic Rock is available on DAB Digital Radio (D2 multiplex), on the Global Player app, online and on smart speakers.

The station plays the greatest rock and roll music, from the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Queen, Guns N' Roses and The Rolling Stones, to name just a few.

Radio X Classic Rock joins sister station Radio X, which plays rock, indie and alternative music across the UK.

Radio X launched on 21 September 2015 under the 'Radio X' name, which replaced 'XFM' that first broadcast on 1 September 1997. The first show to air on Radio X was 'The Chris Moyles Show' at breakfast, a show which he still fronts. The first song played on the show was 'Love Machine' by Girls Aloud. This was due to speculation, which Chris highlighted when playing the record, that the station was fronted and was to only appeal to the male audience.
