This weekend, Sony has announced that it's going to discontinue the Play Station Vita (PS Vita)
At the weekend, tech makers Sony, announced they are going to discontinue the last two remain models of its portable gaming console: the Play Station Vita. They have also officially stopped production of the console, too,
The Play Station Vita came into over lives back in Japan in 2011, and its sales were going really well, but with the likes of the Wii U and Nintendo Switch portable console launching, sales declined.
Almost two years after it went on sale, big rival, the Nintendo Switch, the gaming console has sold more than 32 million units already and we're expecting that figure to grow.
Back in 2015, Sony announced that it would stop making and producing games for its go-anywhere console, and this meant they would focus more on creating titles for its flagship gaming console: Play Station 4 (PS4). When the PS Vita launched, well-known titles were available on the console, including: Assassin's Creed III: Liberation and LittleBigPlanet for PS Vita.
This means that Sony's handheld console is no-more, but there are sparks that Sony could be developing a brand new console as the Play Station 4 is old in hardware terms. We're taking a guess that its latest console will be named the Play Station 5, although this has not yet been confirmed.
